From earliest times, spiritual seekers have found renewal in wilderness. In peaceful nature settings, one can more easily sense the Presence of God and receive inner guidance. Each year visitors from around the world enter the holy grounds of Questhaven for worship, study and renewal.

This non-denominational Christian retreat is nestled among chaparral-covered hills in northern San Diego County. The grounds encompass 640 acres of coastal wilderness traversed by several miles of nature trails offering views of the Pacific Ocean, shaded oak sanctuaries, wayside shrines, seasonal wild flowers and a variety of birds and wildlife. Wandering these trails, we find release from the stress of outer lives, and come to the stillness and quiet necessary to awaken our inner life to the Living Presence of God.

Flower A. Newhouse

Founded in 1940 by the Reverends Flower and Lawrence Newhouse, Questhaven is "dedicated to the Lord Christ forever." The life and writings of Flower A. Newhouse are those of a Christian mystic, and her insights into the inner realms of life provide us with a path to wholeness that she called "Living the Life." These principles are not doctrine, but a practical guide to the direct, immediate experience of God.

Flower's mission was also to reawaken humanity to the reality of angels, a work she began with her first book in 1937, and added to in many published writings and in recorded lectures.

Questhaven will continue as an island of peace and natural beauty in the busy sea of everyday life, offering community, fellowship and support.

The Christward Ministry

The Christward Ministry honors the Lord Christ as Lord of all religions in the world. His teachings are the heart and essence of this work. When man in deepest God–love and humility of spirit brings himself to a study and creative contemplation of Jesus the Christ, his soul will intuitively confirm the greatness and integrity of this Son as the living emblem of all that man may attain.

This ministry does not seek to establish a sect or creed–it has no memberships, but strives to reveal unity in the diversity of all faiths and paths to God. We believe that when the Christ Spirit can be made a vital part of our existence, its influence will unify, heal, and transform world conditions. This Ministry is actively engaged in sharing the universal teachings of the Lord Christ and endeavors to present a balanced combination of the metaphysical principles and esoteric dimensions of life which Christ has shared with the world.
