This non-denominational Christian retreat is nestled among chaparral-covered hills in San Diego County. These holy grounds encompass 640 acres of coastal wilderness traversed by several miles of nature trails encouraging visitors to draw closer to God in Nature.
Devotional Services are held every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Quest.
Classes and workshops are offered regularly on prayer, meditation, healing, and artistic expression.
Weekend retreats are held to celebrate the annual festivals of Easter, Michaelmas, and Christmas.
Come celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of Questhaven Retreat and the 60th anniversary of the first special instructions Flower received from the Perfected Beings we call Masters.
On August 14th and 15th we will be honoring the Masters and co-founders Flower and Lawrence Newhouse. Each of these special souls made it possible for us to be here today and to open to the higher realms. Saturday morning, August 14th, we will have a Masters’ Silent Retreat entitled On the Shoulders of Spiritual Giants from 9:30 to 1. We invite you to join us in silence to pray, meditate, walk the trails or labyrinth, commune with the Great Ones, journal and listen for your inner instructions. At noon we will gather in silence to enjoy vegetarian refreshments in Friendship House. Our morning will begin in Chapelito at 9:30 a.m.
Unit 3, "The Armor of Spiritual Life," is now underway in our ongoing "Finding Your True North" series to help sincere seekers discover new Ways into God's Presence.
In this unit, we begin a quest to learn ways to wear the full armor of God. Five different sections will be introduced, including Prayer, Meditation, Spiritual Techniques, Spiritual Laws and Integration. All the material for this unit is from a booklet written by Rev. Flower A. Newhouse entitled The Armor of Spiritual Life. Enjoy!
Finding Your True North, The Armor of Spiritual Life
Chapelito, the original chapel of Questhaven, has received some much needed love and care. It is now a beautiful house of reverence for worship and study.
It is dedicated to our Lord Christ and His Hierarchy of perfected ones who serve God.
We are calling it "The Hall of Wholeness."
Prayer of Blessing by Flower A. Newhouse given at the close of a service in 1955 in Chapelito.
Dear Friends and Spiritual Family, [View Newsletter]
What a wonderful age stands before us! These words do not flow forth from what the outer world brings us, but what our inner journey calls for us. This is our time.
It is the opportunity for us to finally meet the God-given potential that each of us have been given. It is time for us to realize that our limitations should not define us. This is not part of our True Identity in God - of whose powers and capabilities we have been invested. We have come into this earth as humans to recover this sense of God awareness.
Flower writes, "The discriminating soul will recognize his need for God as a constant need. He may experience lapses, but he quickly returns to recollectedness about this First Importance."
It is helpful to realize that angels evolve through service to God. Humans evolve by surrendering self to God. The journey of life is not marked by how many human things we can do or accumulate before the end. It is about what we have earned divinely through surrender that lifts us into God's kingdom of light more purely.
Whenever I want to examine how I am doing in this regard, I start looking at how I am spending my time each day. This is a good reality check because we always make time for what we truly want to do consciously or unconsciously.
Each of us must ask the question, "How do I want to spend the valuable time I have on earth?"
What of time for the reception of illumination, of intuition, of our relationship with Christ, of the ability to be masters of ourselves in this particular moment of time over some temptation or distraction which is at hand?
Let us attune ourselves to the shores of the Everlasting to discover those answers - to recover our oneness with God and the Real Higher Nature that exists within us.
And so this wonderful age before us calls for the emergence of our higher selves - to surrender our will to God's.
As the hymn says: Therefore with joy our song shall soar in praise to God for evermore.
May God give you wings.
Your Brother in Christ,
Reverend Blake Isaac
