Michaelmas Feast of the Angels (030-2 Sunday 9/25/1955)
Focuses on the importance of Angel awareness to Christians. Urges us to acknowledge the Angels at all times, not just at high occasions such as Michaelmas and Christmas, but in our daily lives. Rare glimpses into the soul which is dormant until exercized. Our soul counsels us and we receive revelations or understanding. Describes appearance of the soul in the aura. The soul has the equivalent of energy, feeling and mentality raised to their highest. Increase soul awareness through reverence for God and overcoming thoughts of appearances.
An Endeavor towards Awakenment (073-1 Sunday 8/4/1957)
As we practice qualifications of becoming aware, which is reverence and opening a lifeline of spiritual contact or communion between the invisible and the manifest visible world, we cannot help but grow and discover glimpses of greater awareness. Give first attention to God, lifting up and giving ourselves each day to the Supreme, to channel, correct, transform, enliven, bless and heal. The more reverent we are, the more sensitive, more informed intuitionally we can become.
Qualifications for Extra-Sensory Perception (088-2 Sunday 6/15/1958)
Speaking of man's evolving awareness of his own finiteness and limitation, Flower tells of man's gradual shift Godward and the slow unfolding of extra-sensory perception. She describes the different faculties of the sixth sense including telepathy, clairvoyance, clairsentience, intuition, theophany, and channelship explaining that we all possess these gifts in a dormant state until we develop a deep interest in God. She warns of the great costs to be considered and the need for spiritual moral courage, integrity and sincerity.
Adventures in Christian Mysticism (124-1 Sunday 2/21/1960)
Flower describes that it is through intuitional consciousness that we reach heightened states of God Awareness. The intellect must remain passive in order to attain expansive states of consciousness. Explains that the one thing that has kept Christianity alive since the time of Christ on earth is the creativity and works of the Christian Mystics. Mentions various mystics during history.
Discovering Spiritual Values through Nature (160-1 Sunday 8/13/1961)
Nature possess' a school of wisdom all its own and we may enter this hall of instruction if we know the precious keys for every classroom. The key to the in earnest spiritual student are those of appreciation, attention, awareness and communion. Nature is willing to give us more that the outer or superficial aspect of herself if we are able to lose ourselves in love of God in her great cathedral. The more therefore, we learn to love the outdoors and everything that is within it that is wholesome, the more sensitized we should become and the more intuitionally conscious of Divine Presence right there confronting us.
Drawing Closer to God Retreat (3 of 3) (158-1 Sunday 8/27/1961)
Flower stresses our golden precepts: first; to realize Divinity or God; second, to realize God's Divine presence within us; third, to live attuned to our Lord's way; and fourth, to fulfill all the Christian rules. Explains need to overcome faintheartedness, halfheartedness, lack of commitment to Christ. We are living less than our Christianity unless we make eternity the background of our Christian worship. Emphasizes striving for continual overcoming. Gives examples of raising children in awareness of great Christian powers. Begins with dedication of carillon bells.
More about Christian Mysticism (176-1 Sunday 3/4/1962)
The definition of Mysticism is given as the ultimate goal of Christianity and all World Religions because it points to man's direct union or attunement with God. The goal is that man be made conscious of God and lifted into the state of greater God awareness. Various examples of the great mystics, and their illumination are sighted. Describes the five stages of enlightenment as considered by Christian Mysticism.
Added Insights into Christian Mysticism (194-1 Sunday 7/22/1962)
Flower states that Christian Mysticism is the very aim and endeavor of every Christian heart. The questing Christian who is on fire with love for God is conscious of the fact that in Christian Mysticism is a path that leads to God and an awareness and total comprehension of the spirit that made us. Discusses mystical states of consciousness. Cites lives of mystics, including Alfred Tennyson, Simone Weil and Thomas Merton.
Drawing Closer to God Retreat II (3 of 3) (196-2 Sunday 8/12/1962)
Retreats exist to give people a plan where they may come and feel closer to the eternal. God is the reason for our incarnation. It is not beyond our capacity, nor our purpose, to keep the maker of our lives before us and keep ourselves responsible to Him. We are failing until we take that pledge of giving ourselves and loving God continuously, every moment, of every hour, of every day, every year, until by the thinking of that great rhythm of light, we are made finer and cleaner and closer, and spiritualized according to His way and His spirit.
Living above the Visible (255-2 Sunday 7/26/1964)
States that our great purpose in this incarnation is to live above the visible plane; to have conscious affiliation with Divine world of spirit from which we came, to which we forever belong. Christ says the Kingdom of Heaven is within us; we are to increase awareness of these inner worlds. Psychology and parapsychology are increasing openness and sensitivity to them. Describes the training undertaken by Sufi mystics, travelers on the great path.
Of What Does an Ideal Awareness in Nature Consist? (308-2 Sunday 6/26/1966)
The more an individual loves nature the better is it revealed that he is advancing. The more mature the soul the deeper will be his love for the out-of-doors and for the creatures. God has placed within man an awareness, sometimes it is only intuitional but that is enough, of another kingdom; a kingdom that serves the trees, the grasses, the winds, the storm and all the loveliness of nature. And the same intuition tells us that we can receive much from this other side of life if we are open to its inner perspective.
The Watchful Eye of Spirit (310-1 Sunday 7/24/1966)
This talk describes what it means to be interested in God, to want to know more about the Eternal, not just believing in God, but realizing God. Flower gives examples of persons who are transformed in their realization of God. There is an all seeing eye of Spirit all around us and in us, and we should be thoughtful and respectful and reverence before this Glorious Presence.
The Spiritual Meaning of Springtime (327-1 Sunday 4/16/1967)
Flower describes the great spiritual Vernal festival and the characteristics of the nature beings active at this time of year. On May first, she says, 'the great devas stand at full attention, raying out and relaying through to the beings who are younger than they, the glorious baptisms that come from the Planetary Logos. Wherever beings are serving nature, they will on this particular day feel a great call to go to the temple nearest them. The devas then come to the realization as to what is their purpose and what they may do further to help in the work of the Creator through the earth.' She further instructs us how to prepare for deeper awareness of the great intelligences ever present in nature.

The life and writings of Flower A. Newhouse are those of a Christian mystic, and her insights into the inner realms of life provide us with a path to wholeness that she called "Living the Life." These teachings are not doctrine, but a practical guide to the direct, immediate experience of God. Flower's mission was also to reawaken humanity to the reality of angels, a work she began with her first book in 1937, and added to in many published writings and in recorded lectures.
