Highlights of the Study of Numbers (082-2 Sunday 2/2/1958)
Everything in the world physically and in the inner worlds is attuned to rhythm, frequency and number. Pythagoras is responsible for our arithmetic. India began the system that begins with zero and it meant God. Explanations given for meaning of numbers 0 to 9 both in our birth dates and names. Pythagoras taught 3 important things to prepare us for spiritual study are gymnasium, music and numbers. Quotes given from Ariel Taylor on numbers and explanation of numbers 11 and 22.
Christmas in the Heart (122-1 Sunday 12/20/1959)
Christmas is an event of spiritual empowerment. It is a bestowal from great cosmic glories. We require planetary and solar nourishment which is poured out at the great spiritual festivals. Explains the symbolism of the Christmas tree, decorations, and gift giving. Let us use whatever will lift our emotions - music, symbolism in decoration, the shared impressions of love for Christmas, all that is food to our emotional body and mentally gives us an impetus toward the development of greater character.
The Esoteric Side of the Taking and Keeping of Promises (271-2 Sunday 2/7/1965)
Flower first speaks about the importance of keeping one's word. She describes esoterically what occurs when we make a promise or pledge to ourselves, someone or something else. She tells us that those who are insincere have karmic consequences. Flower then shares spiritual impressions from different music numbers that a group of listeners responded to. Flower shares her own impressions along with those of the group. The talk concludes with a led meditation that pledges the participant to God.
The Special Power of Silent Effort (300-1 Sunday 2/27/1966)
Speaks of consciously entering the Great Silence, explaining that we must have outer silence in order to enter the inner silence. Flower stresses that more is often accomplished through silence than through words, and suggests that we can help those in need by holding them in the silence. She gives personal examples from her work and tells of hearing the Music of the Spheres outside in the silence of the night. To be a channel for the releasement of archetypes of beauty, purposefulness and usefulness we must be silent. She tells us that silence strips us of our egotisms. We are only ready to pray, meditate, serve or speak when we experience first relaxation, then patience and finally silence.
Festival of Thanksgiving (Choir and Instruments) (343-1 Sunday 11/19/1967)
Nature As Healer and Enlightener (394-2 Sunday 6/22/1969)
There are many paths by which we meet God, and upon which He speaks to us. Among them are the way of reverence through religion, the way of music, the way of color, the way of beauty, and the way of nature. We believe that for the most part the initiations of nature, or the ways of nature, are the least tried by most Christians. This is because they are so immersed in details, they are so lost in the abstractions of their routine living, that they do not disengage themselves sufficiently to behold with wonder the voice of God speaking through His firmament.
Music is the Gateway into Divine Presence (396-1 Sunday 7/20/1969)
Flower explains music as a path to higher consciousness. Most persons feel it on the astral; can be used to cleanse heavy emotions. Can step into mental bodies and be analytical. We can step into our soul bodies; this is harder to do; when we listen with our causal body, instead of the music being out there, and we observers, we are instead participators. On causal level we are one with everything we appreciate, and therefore when hearing great music it sounds through one. Describes thought forms, colors and archetypes seen while listening to musical excerpts. Describes inner music at transition to inner worlds.
The Mystical Experience (450-1 Sunday 2/21/1971)
Mysticism is the practice of the art of Divine Union. It is the endeavor of the soul to draw nearer to God. For that reason it uses all of a man, and claims all of him. Of all the approaches to God, it is the only one that knows synthesis. Flower defines mysticism, gives many examples of mystical traits, behaviors, and examples of mystics in many fields of art, music, religion, literature.
Walking in Beauty (466-1 Sunday 6/27/1971)
This talk awakens us to the beauty that is all around us, not only God's artwork in nature, but in the fine arts as well as our everyday living. Flower stresses the importance of creating beauty in our homes and in our daily surroundings through our choice of artwork, jewelry and decorations. She encourages us to listen to uplifting music and visit museums of fine art. She shares what she sees clairvoyantly when gazing upon a painting that is done well. She advises us to become that type of Christian that walks with awe in the imminence of God's presence in nature, who listens with inner feeling to monumental works of harmonious sound. Appreciate tremendous beauty and receive from it the charging that is there for you. See every hour as a new canvas upon which you may make your impressions, your impressions of raising the hour into the level of harmonious significance, or into the expression of the beauty of holiness.
Beauty's Endowments to Spiritual Life (508-1 Sunday 6/25/1972)
We need beauty as much as we need food and health. Flower Newhouse describes spring and summer as the Festival of Reception, then further notes that the Spirit of Beauty is all-giving, and when we are ready to receive and sensitive enough, we will be aware of how richly it adds to our inner life. It requires the purifying of our senses and the ennobling of our hearts and our thoughts. Further, she makes us aware of the many forms of beauty, including literature, arts, music, dance, and nature, among others.
Angels in the Life of Man (540-1 Sunday 9/30/1973)
Flower describes ranks, orders and beings from the Angelic Kingdom, who all give allegiance to Christ. Closest to us is our Guardian Angel, who helps us grow and confers minor initiations. Gives many examples of different types of Angels, such as Angels of Truth, Angels of Weather, Angels of Wisdom, Healing Angels (Healing Angels present at shrines also, such as Guadalupe and Fatima), Warrior Angels, Angels of the Seasons, Color Angels, Music Angels. The life and writings of Flower A. Newhouse are those of a Christian mystic, and her insights into the inner realms of life provide us with a path to wholeness that she called "Living the Life." These teachings are not doctrine, but a practical guide to the direct, immediate experience of God. Flower's mission was also to reawaken humanity to the reality of angels, a work she began with her first book in 1937, and added to in many published writings and in recorded lectures.
